48 Hour Read-a-thon Day 2!

Good morning, 48-hour read-a-thon participants!! How's everyone doing? Making headway?

I was planning to put this post up before I started this morning, but then I got sucked into one of the books I didn't finish yesterday ;>). So, I officially started at 9:00am EST this morning.

Before I get into the plan for today though, here's a wrap-up of yesterday's reading activity.

Time started: 3:00 pm EST
Time stopped: 12:30 am
Time spent actually reading: 8 hours
Time spent blogging/visiting other participants blogs: 20 minutes
Pages read: 256
Books finished: 0

OK, I'm not going to win any speed reading awards with that showing. But one of the books I'm trying to finish up is A Short History of Nearly Everything by Bill Bryson and this is just not a book to be rushed. I splurged and got the Special Illustrated Edition of this book and, boy, was it worth it. The photos and illustrations are just fabulous!! I only have 3 more chapters to finish in this book.

I'm also throughly enjoying Lord of the Fading Lands by C.L. Wilson. I the interest of full disclosure, I have to tell you that I know C.L. Wilson, she's the president of my local writing group, but that's not why I like her book. I like her book because it's really, really good!! And this is coming from someone who does not read fantasy romance. Romance, yes. Fantasy romance, no. I lean more toward contemporary romantic suspense. But Lord of the Fading Lands is just spectacular. In fact, I'm going to end this post and get back to the last 2 chapters (this is the book I got sucked into this morning that prevented me from posting at 9am when I started ;>)).

good luck and keep reading! 48 hours is a lot of time to read.

The Special Illustrated Edition? how cool. I loved that book, science geek that I am. Bryson explains things so well.

How's it going? Did you finish LotFL yet?

You should read Karen Rose next -- that will keep you awake. :-)

raidergirl - He does indeed. I loved, loved, loved that book! I finished it earlier today.

chanticleer - LOL. You're right about Karen's books ;>). And, yes, I finished LotFL about noon. Then I got sucked into Dead Girls are Easy by Terri Garey (remember her?).

I had planned on doing reviews as I went, but I think I'll continue reading till 3pm tomorrow. That'll be the end of my 48 hours. Then do reviews the rest of the afternoon.

I've got 2 more books going that I should be able to finish tomorrow before I run out of time.
