Being the science geek that I am, Michelle of 1 More Chapter is hosting a challenge that I just cannot pass up. Michelle describes the challenge as:
Are you a science geek? Do you like reading about science in fiction? By science in fiction, don’t I mean “science fiction”? Not necessarily. Science fiction is usually speculative, whereas by science in fiction, I mean science that is written about in a realistic setting and manner.
I'm already doing a personal science challenge to read more nonfiction science books and since I tend to look for fiction that involves scientist protagonists (especially if they are female), this challenge is perfect. Like my nonfiction science challenge, this is a perpetual challenge. If you'd like more info on the Science in Fiction Project, Michelle has set up a separate blog for it here.
I've already read one book this year that will fit into this challenge:
Déjà Dead by Kathy Reichs (forensic anthropology)

And I know I have at least one more on my bookshelves:
The Echo Maker by Richard Powers (traumatic brain injury, Capgras Syndrome)

And I'll be looking for others. If anyone has suggestions for titles or authors who have characters who are scientists, please let me know.

I really loved the Canopy by Angela Hunt. It is on my all time favorites list. I have a Biology degree. :)
Thanks for the recommendation, Brittanie. It sounds fantastic! I've put it on my wish list. Yeah, my degree is in biochem and I've worked in genetics labs for years. Now I write kids science books ;>).
