Let's Talk About You!

OK, I'm stealing this idea from Heather at Age 30 - A Year of Books who stole it from Terribly Unfashionable: Tales of a Geeky Librarian because I agree with Heather -- sometimes, when you're traveling from blog to blog, it's hard to come up with a comment, but you want to say something. Well, here's your chance.

1. What do you do for a living?
2. Where do you live?
3. Who do you live with?
4. What's your favorite book (or movie, if you don't have a favorite book)?
5. Coffee or tea?

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'll start:
1. What do you do for a living? I'm a freelance writer (science books for kids, mostly -- author of 20, so far) by way of teaching high-school science and cytogenetics (cytogeneticists are the people in the lab who, when a woman has an amniocentesis, look at the baby's chromosomes to see if there's a genetic problem in the works -- in other words, I'm a HUGE science geek ;>)).

2. Where do you live? St. Petersburg, Florida for the last year, but I grew up on the Outer Banks of North Carolina and spent the last 5 years across the Hudson from lower Manhattan in Jersey City, NJ (That was fun and I loved going into NYC, but I'm terribly glad to be back in warmer weather ;>). I am NOT a snow kinda girl).

3. Who do you live with? My hubby and our two feline fur babies -- Hobie (a big, fat, male orange-black tabby) and Mizmo (a sleeker, gray-black female tabby). Both mutts (and both insanely smart, which usually spells trouble) that hubby found in a park on Staten Island one day about 5 years ago. We're pretty sure they had the same mom, but they're from different litters. One born in October (the male mush) and the other in June (the mischievous female) of the following year, we think.

4. What's your favorite book (or movie, if you don't have a favorite book)? OK, this is impossible. If I absolutely had to choose, it'd be something by Steinbeck or Nora Roberts (I know, I know, I have schizophrenic reading tastes, but it makes me happy ;>)). Movie-wise I like the original Star Wars trilogy, The Matrix, and Pretty Woman ;>).

5. Coffee or tea? Both of them. Iced or hot. Sweet. Lots of milk with the coffee.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So leave me a comment and tell me all about you! Then pass it along...

This sounds like fun:
1. I am a law student. This summer, I am a legal intern in DC working on Medicare
2. Currently, I am in DC. However, I have been in Seattle for the last two years. Before that, I have lived in Atlanta, Durham, and New Orleans. I grew up in Silver, Spring Maryland.
3. Right now my parents, most of the time myself, in a bit I will live with my spouse :)
4. This question is too hard to answer. I will decline.
5. Tea. I like the smell of coffee, but not the taste.

Here's the link to my post with my answers. I'm so glad you stole this idea from me - it's so much fun to learn about your readers! :)

By the way, I completely agree with beastmomma on #5.

Hey Kristi - I have a question about your blog layout. Can you email me when you get a chance? I'm at SharingMyStory AT yahoo DOT com. Thanks. :)

Well, I had to join in once I read you like both Steinbeck AND Nora Roberts -- me too! Gotta love diversity!!

1. English teacher
2. Twin Cities, Minnesota
3. My husband and our pitbull/border collie mix
4. Whatever I'm reading at the time :) (especially since I embrace the 50 page rule).
5. Both!! Coffee the first hour of the day and then tea the rest of the day...

Thanks for asking! This was fun!

Beastmomma -- I totally agree with you about #4. The closest I could get was giving a couple of favorite authors ;>).

Heather -- Thanks for letting me "borrow" from you ;>). You're right, this is a lot of fun! Good luck with the 3-column thing.

Kristen -- LOL. You mean there are others out there like me? ;>) I am also a follower of the 50 page rule! I wasn't always like that and there are a few (but very few) books I'll put up with past p. 50 (like One Hundred Years of Solitude, for example). But now there has to be a good reason, otherwise there are just too many good books out there and I'm getting old enough to finally realize that I'm not going to be able to read all of them, no matter how hard I try (boo hiss ;>)).

Thanks for coming by everyone. It's nice to get to know you.
