Naida at The Bookworm hosted the 2008 Romance Reading Challenge. The challenge was to read 5 romance books. This was pretty easy for me since romance is one of my favorite genres, and I read way more that 5 romances this year. But I especially wanted to stick to the list I made at the beginning of the year and it took me a while to get around to reading Irish Hearts (I loved it though – I’ll review it soon).
1. Rapture in Death by J.D. Robb
2. Irish Hearts by Nora Roberts (review to come)
3. Have You Seen Her? by Karen Rose
4. Dead Girls Are Easy by Terri Garey
5. Lord of the Fading Lands by C.L. Wilson
Favorite book of the challenge: Ooooh, tough one! I really enjoyed all of them, but I was really happy to find another great romantic suspense writer that has several books out that I can now devour, so I think I’ll go with Karen Rose’s Have You Seen Her? Great book.
Least favorite book of the challenge: None. I really loved them all.
Any new authors read in this challenge? Everyone except Nora Roberts/J.D. Robb.
What I learned: Uh…that I like romance? No, I already knew that. I guess the biggest lesson was that I enjoy paranormal romances when they don’t involve vampires (vamps are not my favorite—give me ghosts, demons, or witches any day) and, surprisingly, I liked fantasy romance (I even have the next 2 books in C.L. Wilson’s series).
Would you do this one again if it were offered next year? Yep. I’m making my list (and room on the blog) for 2009 challenges now.
Thanks for hosting this challenge, Naida! I enjoyed choosing and reading books for it. And I’m looking forward to doing it again next year!
