I don't have a problem buying too many books but I think your goal of reading 5 for every one bought is better than some of the other goals I've seen that seem harder to keep. For example not buying ANY books.

The ARt of Racing in the Rain is one of my all time favorite books. I'm glad you enjoyed it!
